A California MidCentury Ranch style house had suffered numerous remodels over the years, leaving it in a disjointed state.  The Owners needed improved flow, and wished for additional bedrooms, baths, a JADU and office space.

Both of the Owners are designers with a wish for a clean and modern aesthetic.  We added a detached garage and created an addition that defines a courtyard, which the rest of the house was subsequently organized around.  An outdoor kitchen and oversized sliding doors integrate the outdoors into daily living.  The bedrooms are located for maximum privacy, and the master suite incorporates its own private courtyard with spa tub.

\The JADU is located at the lower level and is severed from the house for privacy.  The office space is located at the front of the house and separated from the family space by a sliding farmhouse door that doubles as a textile display.  Visitors and employees can stop in the office without entering the family space.

This project was recognized by the City of Piedmont for “Best Comprehensive Remodel and Addition” in 2026
